The Detroit News and Detroit Public Schools started the Rosa Parks Scholarship Foundation to honor its eponym Rosa L. Parks, the late iconic civil rights activist. The foundation aims to provide the Rosa L. Parks Scholarship to high school senior students at private or public schools in Michigan. Under the program, 40 qualified high school seniors will be awarded with a $2,000 scholarship.
