Government Finance Professional Development Scholarship 2025

The GFOA was established in 1906, provides public finance officials in the United States and Canada. It aims to advance excellence in public finance. And, the GFOA’s executive board created the Government Finance and Professional Development Scholarship in 2010.

The Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) offers the Government Finance Professional Development Scholarship, aimed at supporting part-time students who have a career interest in state and local government finance. Under the program, four students will receive an amount of $10,000 each on an annual basis.

Eligibility:

Scholarship applicants will be evaluated on the following criteria:

• Be U.S. or Canadian citizens who have been employed for two years
• Studying public administration, (governmental) accounting, finance, economics, or business administration (with a specific focus on government) at an accredited university in the U.S. or Canada.

Selection Criteria:

GFOA’s scholarship committee will consider the applications based on their past academic records; the strength of their coursework, the connection between courses and their career goals, and applicants’ past work experience.
