The University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC) is fully accredited in the Kansas City area. It empowers the Kansas City community through various outreach programs and initiatives. The District High School Award is offered to financially support some of its local high school graduates. The scholarship includes an award of $1,500 and is offered to incoming freshman students who completed high school in the Kansas City Public School District or the North Kansas City Schools.

Eligibility:
Scholarship applicants will be evaluated on the following criteria:
- High School graduate from Kansas City Public School District or North Kansas City Schools
- Award may be combined with with the highest automatic award a student is eligible to receive
- Working toward first bachelor’s degree

- Full-time enrollment (12+ UMKC credits per semester)
- Complete and earn 24 UMKC credits per year
- Must be U.S. citizen or permanent resident
- All first-time college students are considered for these awards with the exception of students in the schools of Medicine, Pharmacy, Dentistry and Law
