Eckenfelder Scholarship 2025

The foundation offers a $5,000 Dr. Wesley Eckenfelder, Jr. Scholarship to support students who are interested in pursuing a career in the environmental profession. The winners will receive a paid summer internship at Brown and Caldwell’s Eckenfelder Lab located in Nashville, TN.

Eckenfelder Scholarship – Overview

Eligibility Criteria:

Scholarship applicants will be evaluated on the following criteria:

• Must be a United States citizen or permanent resident.
• Must be a full-time student enrolled in their Junior, Senior year or graduate program at an accredited college/university in fall 2025.
• Declared major in civil, chemical, mechanical, electrical or environmental engineering or one of the environmental sciences (e.g. geology, hydrogeology, ecology).
• Must have a Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent on a 5.0 scale).
• Must have current driver’s license and good driving record.

Application Process:

Here’s what you must submit besides your application.

• A resume.
• An essay of 250 words minimum, “Tell us about a personal experience that influenced your decision to focus on environmental studies.”
• Two written recommendations, with at least one from a university official (e.g. advisor, professor).
• An official transcript of your academic record.

Selection Process:

Applications will be evaluated based on their work experience, service to the community, passion for environmental studies, and academics.
