The Maine Educational Services (MES) Foundation created the Richard H. Pierce Memorial Scholarship to help students who are unable to continue their post-secondary education without financial assistance. The award is a financial-need and merit-based. 10 students will receive $5,000 each year.

Eligibility Criteria:
Scholarship applicants will be evaluated on the following criteria:
- Must be a Maine resident entering 1st year of post-secondary education
- Must Intend to enroll or be enrolled in a two (2) or four (4) year degree-granting college or university, which is accredited by the Association of Schools and Colleges.

Application Process:
Here’s what you must submit besides your application.
- Demonstrated financial need
- Two letters of recommendation
- A personal essay of 300 words or more
- Contributions to school, community, and/or work environment
- Academic excellence demonstrated by the content of the applicant’s transcript, GPA and SAT.
