ACS Scholars Program 2025

African American/Black, Native American/American Indian, and Hispanic or Latino undergraduate students in the United States can apply for the American Chemical Society (ACS) Scholars Program. One winner will receive $5000 to cover tuition, academic fees, and up to $500 of textbooks only.

ACS Scholars Program – Overview

Who is Eligible?

Scholarship applicants will be evaluated on the following criteria:

• Must be U.S. citizens or legal permanent U.S. residents.
• African descent or Black, Hispanic or Latina/Latino/Latinx, or Indigenous (e.g. Native American, Native Hawaiian, Pacific Islander, Alaskan Native)
• Must be graduating high school seniors or college freshmen, sophomores or juniors. Seniors can apply for their fifth year.
• Who is intending to major or already majoring in chemistry, biochemistry, chemical engineering, chemical technology, or another chemistry-related science AND planning to pursue a career in a chemistry-related science as well
• Full-time students at a high school or an accredited college, university, or community college can apply for this award.
• Must hold a high academic achievement in chemistry or science (Grade Point Average 3.0 or higher)

Selection Process:

The Selection Committee with professionals in academia and the chemical industry, and some ACS Scholar Alumni will consider all completed, eligible applications. The winners will be judged based on academic record, career objective, leadership ability, participation in school activities and/or academic research, and community service.
