CalFlowers Scholarship 2025 – The California Association of Flower Growers & Shippers (CalFlowers) is a floral trade association and was established in 1941. The award is given through the American Floral Endowment, which offers various scholarships and awards annually to support students of floriculture. AFE has more than 30 scholarships awarded each year, ranging from $500 – $5,000. AFE supports you for the next generation of industry leaders. These funds are issued jointly as checks in the name of the recipient and the college or institution being attended in the fall. 

The CalFlowers Scholarship is a merit-based program open to all undergraduate students planning a career in floriculture. Students who are residing in California and studying at an accredited institution within the state and outside, with a preference for the former, are eligible to apply for this award.

To be eligible, students must be currently studying for an agricultural degree or have working experience in floriculture. Along with submitting two letters of recommendation, a résumé and a transcript to be considered. The minimum GPA required whom you are going to apply is 3.0 (on a scale of 4.0).

Eligibility Criteria:

Scholarship applicants will be evaluated on the following criteria:

  • Must be pursuing a career in or related to FLORICULTURE or HORTICULTURE.
  • Must be a CITIZEN OR RESIDENT OF THE U.S. OR CANADA or be enrolled in an accredited educational institution in the U.S. or Canada.
  • Must have a minimum 2.0 grade point average.

Application Process:

The following checklist will help you complete your application form: The deadline is May 1 for all application components (online application, transcripts, and two letters of recommendation).

  • Two letters of recommendation – Preferably one from a teacher and one from an employer. Please do not submit more than two letters of recommendation. Upload recommendations to your online application as a PDF. Letter of Recommendations uploaded or requested will be applied to all scholarships selected.
  • Transcripts – from your most recent school, do not need to be official. Upload transcripts to your online application as a PDF.

Note – All applications must have the details, including a current email address, a permanent address, and a current address. Each student will be provided an email receipt of their application when it has been received.

Selection Process:

The students will be selected based on their academic record and working experience. Candidates enrolled in a non-agricultural program must provide details of meaningful work in floriculture, either in employment or an internship. Residents of California studying outside the state can apply for this program, however, preference will be given to candidates enrolled in an accredited institution in California.
