The Charles W. Riley Firefighter and Ambulance and Rescue Squad Member Scholarship Program aims to show the commitment of the State of Maryland to the local first responder industry. The scholarship fund was created by the Maryland Higher Education Commission (MHEC) to encourage members of the industry to pursue credited courses in related fields at the university level. The scholarship amount will range between $6,500 to $28,000, which will be at least 50% of each student’s annual tuition and mandatory fees at an eligible institution in Maryland.

Eligibility Criteria:
Scholarship applicants will be evaluated on the following criteria:
- Who have enrolled full-time or part-time in undergraduate programs such as fire service technology, emergency medical technology, fire service management, or public safety administration with a minor or concentration in fire service technology or fire safety management.
- Applicants and their parents (for dependent students) should be Maryland residents.
