Freshman Engineering Scholarship

Every year, A one-year $5,000 scholarship is open to a full-time undergraduate pre-engineering or engineering student entering their sophomore year of college and pursuing a Bachelor of Science or Engineering degree in a course of study. To win the Freshman Engineering Scholarship of $5,000, you will need to submit the Annual Application before the deadline, i.e. May 1, 2025. Moreover, Re-applications will be accepted from former scholarship applicants and recipients who meet current criteria.

Eligibility Criteria:

Scholarship applicants will be evaluated on the following criteria:

  • Must hold a cumulative college Grade Point Average (GPA) of at least 3.0 on a scale where 4.0 is the highest and/or a class standing of no less than the top 30%
  • Must be enrolled as a first-year student at a post-secondary educational institution that meets at least one of the following criteria:
    • the institution has an active ASHRAE student branch ASHRAE Student Branches or
    • the program is accredited in the USA by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) www.abet.org or
    • the program is accredited outside the USA by a signatory agency of the Washington Accord Washington Accord or has a signed Memorandum of Understanding with ABET http://www.abet.org/memoranda-of-understanding/

Application Process:

Here’s what you must submit besides your application.

  • Official transcript of grades.
  • Transcript must either be mailed, sent through an online electronic transfer service, or directly from your registrar’s office on your behalf.
  • Three signed letters of recommendation: one from an instructor or faculty advisor, a current or past employer, and another character reference (other than a family member).
