General Scholarship 2025 – The California Restaurant Foundation is a non-profit organisation. It aims to support restaurants in creating tremendous opportunities for young people by providing youth with scholarships, skills, certifications, and resources to start their careers. The California Restaurant Foundation provides scholarships ranging from $2,000 to $4,000 per recipient annually to 10 deserving high school seniors and undergraduate students pursuing higher education studies related to the food service and hospitality industries.

The Foundation promotes the health and prosperity of the foodservice industry by investing in the youth regardless of gender, age, race, ethnicity, national origin, sexual orientation or identity, disability, or any other bias through various scholarship programs and services. Applications are open January 1 – May 1 each year.

It has helped future industry leaders with college scholarships. Scholarships are up to $4,000 a year. It also has supported California students majoring in hospitality management, culinary arts, food science, and related fields. This year, the Foundation offered $170,500 in co-branded scholarships.

Eligibility Criteria:

Scholarship applicants will be evaluated on the following criteria:

  • be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident
  • be a California resident, although students may attend an out-of-state school
  • be enrolled in a minimum of nine credit hours at an accredited foodservice related postsecondary two consecutive semesters or terms starting in the fall
  • Must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.50 on a 4.0 scale
  • be in good standing with the school for the second half of the award
  • have completed at least one grading term of a postsecondary program or be a high school senior going directly to a postsecondary school.

Application Process:

Here’s what you must submit besides your application.

  • A copy of the applicant’s program curriculum from a college catalog or website with the major or degree, the number of credit hours and all degree requirements shown.
  • A high school or college transcript. Transcripts do not have to be a sealed official copy from the school.
  • Proof of the required restaurant and hospitality industry work experience as listed above. Proof can be given in the form of scanned paycheck stubs or a scanned letter from an employer verifying hours worked.

Applications will be evaluated based on the merit of a solid personalised essay statement, verifiable minimum work experience hours, the value of the submitted online application, and academic transcript of atleast a 2.5 out of 4.0-grade point average.

Facts About California Restaurant Foundation General Scholarship

Only applicants are eligible if they meet the following conditions like U.S. Citizen, U.S. national, or a permanent resident in the United States, residing in California and attending college in either California or an out-of-state institution.

Applicants who are pursuing a higher education career in hotel management, food science, culinary arts, dietetics, food service, hospitality management, and other hospitality plus culinary majors can apply for this award.
