The Georgia Hope Zell Miller Scholarship is a merit-based award and restricted to Georgia residents and supports exceptional high school graduates and undergraduate students who show academic excellence. Every year, Helping Outstanding Pupils Educationally (HOPE) awards an amount ranging from $20,000 to $60,000. It is administered by Helping Outstanding Pupils Educationally (HOPE).
In 1992, the State of Georgia started an education initiative called the “Georgia Hope Zell Miller Scholarship”, aimed at providing a higher education to needy students. So far, HOPE has helped more than 1.8 million students with over $10 billion of financial assistance for educational programs beyond high school.

Georgia residents who are working towards a certificate or diploma at a Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG) or University System of Georgia (USG) institution can apply for Georgia’s Zell Miller Grant.

Eligibility:
To be eligible, Applicants must be high school graduates and have maintained a minimum 3.70 grade point average, combined with a minimum SAT score of 1200 on the math and reading portions, OR a minimum composite ACT score of in a single national test administration, and carry a minimum 3.30 cumulative postsecondary grade point average.
Scholarship applicants will be evaluated on the following criteria:
Program Eligibility
- Must be a legal resident of Georgia;
- Must follow academic achievement standards;
- Must be in good standing on all student loans or other financial aid programs;
- Must be in compliance with the Georgia Drug-Free Postsecondary Education Act of 1990;
Academic Eligibility:
- Must have a minimum 3.5 cumulative postsecondary GPA.
Who are ineligible for A Zell Miller Grant
- If he has a baccalaureate degree; or
- If he has received Zell Miller or HOPE Grant payments for 63 semester (95 quarter) hours; or
- If he has received payment from any combination of HOPE Scholarship, Zell Miller Scholarship, HOPE Grant, Zell Miller Grant, or Accel Program (through summer 2011) funds totaling 127 semester (190 quarter) hours of credit.
