Gloria Barron Wilderness Society Scholarship 2025

The Gloria Barron Wilderness Society Scholarship is open to currently qualified graduate students in the United States. The program was established in honor of a dedicated educator and tireless advocate for wilderness protection, Gloria Barron. Two graduate students will receive an award of $25,000 each and will get support for research and preparation of a paper on an aspect of wilderness.

Gloria Barron Wilderness Society Scholarship – Overview

Eligibility Criteria:

Scholarship applicants will be evaluated on the following criteria:

• Must be currently enrolled in an accredited graduate institution in the United States at the time of application;
• Must hold strong academic qualifications, and
• Must have academic and/or career goals focused on making a significant positive difference in the long-term protection of wilderness in the United States.

• A two-page double-spaced cover letter 
• A 3-5 page double-spaced proposal
• A current résumé or curriculum vitae
• Two letters of recommendation
• Scanned undergraduate and graduate transcripts (official or unofficial).
• 1-page budget summarizing how funds 

Selection Process:

The committee will consider the applications based on a realistic approach to conservation, biodiversity protection, climate change, and conservation.
