Prince Kūhiō Kalaniana‘ole established the Hawaiian Civic Club of Honolulu (HCCH) on December 6, 1918. It aimed to encourage academic success and assist Hawaiians in their pursuit of higher education. HCCH created the Hawaiian Civic Club of Honolulu Scholarship program, aimed at assisting HCCH in fostering academic achievement among Hawaiians. One winner will get an award of $1,000.

- Should be full-time students at an accredited two- or four-year college,
- Should have a cumulative grade point average (G.P.A.) of 2.5 for graduating high school seniors or undergraduate students
