The Illinois Student Assistance Commission (ISAC) administers the Nursing Education Scholarship Program (NESP). The Scholarship was created to raise the number of nurses available for employment in Illinois by offering scholarships to overcome financial barriers to education. It also offers financial assistance to qualified students who are pursuing a certificate in practical nursing, an associate degree in nursing, a hospital-based diploma in nursing, a baccalaureate degree in nursing, or a graduate degree in nursing.

Eligibility Criteria:
Scholarship applicants will be evaluated on the following criteria:
- Must be a resident of Illinois for at least one year;
- Must be a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident alien of the United States;
- Must be enrolled in or accepted for admission to a nursing program in Illinois that is approved by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation or the Illinois Board of Higher Education.
- Must show financial need based on the applicant’s Student Aid Report;
