The Higher Education Department, West Bengal, has launched the Swami Vivekananda Scholarship (SVMCM) to help students who are not able to afford their fees. Students who are studying at the undergraduate level in Science/Arts/Commerce, Engineering, Medical, and Technical / Professional courses, Post Graduate level students pursuing Science/Arts/Commerce & Technical/Management can take the benefits of this scheme. However, the representative department will offer the scholarships to deserving students on merit-cum-means criteria.

SVMCM 2025 – Eligibility
- You must be a resident of West Bengal.
- Your family’s annual income must not be more than ₹ 2,50,000/-.
| High School (HS): | – Must have a minimum 60% marks in the Madhyamik Pariksha exam. – West Bengal Board of Secondary Education Students can apply. |
| Diploma Courses: | – Must have a minimum 60% marks in the qualifying exam. – You must have enrolled in the first year after passing the Madhyamik Pariksha or its equivalent, and those enrolled in the second year through lateral entry (after passing HS or equivalent). |
| Undergraduate (UG): | – Must have a minimum 60% marks in the Madhyamik Pariksha exam. – Merit lists will be made for Arts, Commerce, and Science streams. |
| Postgraduate (PG): | – Must have a minimum 53% marks in the Madhyamik Pariksha exam. – Kanyashree scholarship recipients (married/unmarried) pursuing PG in Science, Arts, and Commerce with a minimum 45% in their undergraduate degree can apply for this scheme. |
| Research Level: | – Full-time M.Phil. or Ph.D. research scholars registered after April 1, 2017 |
SVMCM 2025 – List of Required Documents
- Madhyamik Examination or its equivalent Mark sheet.
- Last Board/Council/University/College examination Mark sheet.
- Admission receipt.
- Income certificate of family (Not Applicable for Kanyashree).
- Domicile certificate as Aadhaar ID/Voter ID/Ration card/Certificate Issued by concerned authority.
- Bank Passbook (1st Page, containing A/C No. and IFSC).

Registration Process:
- First of all, visit the official website https://svmcm.wbhed.gov.in/
- On the home page, click on “How To Apply”.
- Read all the instruction carefully and Manual.
- “Check/select” the declaration
- Click on proceed button on registration.
- Next, you will choose the appropriate category of Directorate
- Next, click on “Apply for Fresh Application”.
- Enter the required details in the application form.
- Details of Last Eligible Qualifying Board/Council/University Examination for Scholarship.
- Present Course of Study.
- Basic Details.
- Password.
- Click on register.
- Complete the authenication with the help of mobile OTP.
- You will recieve the Login Credential via your registered mobile no and an email.
How to Apply:
- Open the official website https://svmcm.wbhed.gov.in/
- Click on “Applicant Login”.
- You will be asked to provide the Applicant Id, Password (Which was set during registration process) and Security Code in the appeared pop-up.
- Click on the Login button.
- Complete the profile details, Personal Details and bank details.
- Here, you will have to upload the required documents.
- A success message will appear on the screen once the uploading is done.
- Download Application Details button.
- Click on Submit.
