AFCEA (Armed Forces Communications & Electronics Association) is a professional, non-profit organisation. It was established to create global connections through the four STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) scholarships. The organisation focuses on giving a chance to a woman or someone from a minority group in the United States.

Every year, the Undergraduate Diversity Scholarship is awarded with an amount of $3,000 to a STEM major who is in their sophomore or junior year. The qualified candidate’s area of study must follow the mission of AFCEA that concerns disciplines related to cybersecurity, homeland security and intelligence.

Students who are already enrolled in an accredited US college or university in a four-year program. can apply for this program. The award will enhance their respective STEM fields in their universities.

Eligibility Criteria:

Scholarship applicants will be evaluated on the following criteria:

  • Undergraduate candidates must be at least second-year college students enrolled as sophomores or juniors full-time in a four-year college or university at the time of application.
  • Must have a current overall GPA of 3.0 or higher in the current program at an accredited U.S. college or university required at the time of application. 
  • Must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents. 

The following categories of students can not apply for STEM Majors scholarships:

  • High school seniors 
  • Students attending a two-year college 
  • Freshman or seniors in a four-year university 
  • Students attending a community college and planning to attend a four-year university

Qualifying STEM majors related to the mission of AFCEA include: 

Astronomy, biometry/biometrics, computer engineering, computer forensics science, computer programming, computer science, computer systems, cybersecurity, electrical engineering, electronics engineering, geospatial science, industrial engineering, information science, information technology, information resource management, intelligence, mathematics, mechanical engineering, network engineering, network security, operations research, physics, robotics engineering, robotics technology, statistics, strategic intelligence and telecommunications engineering.

Application Process:

Here’s what you must submit besides your application.

Completed Application: there are several short-answer questions.  

Official Transcript: with completed courses and grades including grades from the Fall 2024 semester. Submit electronically through school to edfoundation@afcea.org. 

One Letter of Recommendation: from faculty in the major of study. Have your reference submit their letter of recommendation in pdf form via email to edfoundation@afcea.org.

  • It is your responsibility to communicate with your recommender to obtain the required letter when completing the application process.

Completed applications, including all supporting documentation, must be submitted by the deadline May 1, 2025.

Candidates will be selected based on their remarkable academic performance and ability to contribute to the field of STEM. Who are talented in their subject of study and possess the capacity to take forward the mission of AFCEA through their future career aspirations will be considered for this award.
