To boost Ohio’s economic strength, The Ohio Department of Higher Education launched the Choose Ohio First Scholarship program in 2009. Under this program, non-traditional students including veterans, full-time workers, low-income, and first-generation students were awarded scholarships.
The program aims to strengthen Ohio’s competitiveness within STEM disciplines and impact the state’s position in world markets such as medicine, aerospace, and information technology. The fund is given by the Department of Higher Education to support students enrolled in innovative academic programs in the STEM field.
